Benefits of Gardening

It’s gardening season and whether you are planting a vegetable garden, fruit bushes and trees, or a butterfly garden, gardening has health benefits that you might not know about!

Better Diet

If you are planting a vegetable or fruit garden, then this might be obvious to you. Fruits and vegetables are essential to our body as they provide vitamins and minerals that help our bodies to function. Not to mention the delicious cooking and baking flavors we can add to our meals once our garden provides some key ingredients!

Exercise

Up and down, up and down. That’s what we do when we garden. We bend over, squat, carry bags of mulch or shovel mulch, dig into the ground using our biceps, and much more! Gardening helps us to exercise in ways we didn’t even realize we were. Even if you have a raised garden bed, you are still walking back and forth from your garage or shed to get your next plant.

Disconnecting and Reconnecting

Anyone else love getting away from their electronics when you garden? We do! We put on our garden gloves and ignore our phones. (Don’t want to get our phones dirty with those gloves on!) Spending time away from electronics helps to clear our brain from noise. Reconnecting with nature through gardening helps us to release stress, enjoy the sounds of nature, breathe in fresh air, and get some Vitamin D from those sun rays!

Outdoor Gardens Might be too Much for Some

If you aren’t able to have an outdoor garden, consider indoor gardening. Consider using a Tower Garden! Easily grow your own produce year-round with our vertical, aeroponic growing system! Have your own clean, fresh foods with no pesticides or herbicides and drastically cut your grocery budget by supplementing your own vegetables, fruits and herbs from your tower. This self-watering system allows plants to grow 3x faster with 30% more yield. No soil and no weeding means that this garden is much less time-consuming than traditional gardens and it takes up less than 5 square feet of space!
