Whole30 Success Story: No More Pain and Inflammation
“As I am always looking for weight loss strategies, my friend Denise asked me to attend on of Dr. Fawn’s Whole30 classes. We were handed out a couple of papers “explaining” what we can and cannot eat. I just looked and laughed. You want me to give up, what???? As Dr. Fawn started to explain the program I just thought to myself, “yeah, right.” But what I couldn’t shake off was how authentic she was. Dr. Fawn was speaking from a place of truth and everyone in the room know it. She explained when she was diagnosed with Crohn’s Disease, she wasn’t going to be on medicine the rest of her life. My knees have been bad for years. I’ve had MRI’s, CAT Scans, Physical Therapy and still no relief. I had an enormous inflammation in both knees and had trouble walking and standing from a seated position. (I’m only 52, why am I acting so old???) Once the class was over and I really thought about what she said, I thought I’d try. I’ve tried everything else! The first week was rough! But the Facebook videos that Dr. Fawn posted really helped getting through the sugar withdraws and the light headedness. Posting pictures of what I cooked helped too. It sounds silly but felt great when people commented on how great the foods looks, or to keep up the good work. R1 I lost 10lbs. and 7 inches. R2 I lost 6lbs. and 6 inches. But the best thing is that by doing Whole30 I figured out what my “trigger” is and its sugar! As long as I stay away from candy and sweets my knees have NO inflammation and I can walk without pain. So now I eat Whole30 compliant for breakfast and lunch and a sensible dinner. Now while sometimes I cheat and have a piece of cake, my knees remind me that by adding sugar comes pain and inflammation. Dr. Fawn is so awesome and I’m proud to be able to share my Whole30 story!”
